Become a Foster Family

Fostering provides an opportunity for us to save the lives of many more dogs than we could ever accommodate at our Sanctuary in Arizona. Every new foster home is the opportunity for at least one more dog to be saved from certain death, simply because it has no home. Fostering helps us create a 'virtual sanctuary', whereby dogs can be rescued, live in loving homes, and appear on-line for people seeking to adopt a pet. Better still, the dog is in a home environment of love and care, while waiting for her/his forever placement.

As a foster family, you play a crucial role in the whole adoption process, because you get to know the dog in a home setting, which can be very different from just seeing a dog in a shelter. This provides invaluable information about the dog and how it lives in a home, which helps us find the perfect forever placement to suit its temperament, playfulness and habits etc. This is a win-win situation for everyone involved.

Of course, it's important to ensure that the foster placement will work for dogs and people alike. To this end, we have a Foster Network process, with a few steps:

- a form to apply to be a foster family,

- a home visit, to ensure that your home and lifestyle will suit a dog in foster care,

- a foster agreement, that clearly outlines the role of the foster carer and the relationship with Tara's Babies,

- guidelines to help make the transition of a new dog into your family as smooth as possible.

The foster application form will be online soon. To contact us about fostering in the meantime, please call 866-574-965.

Tara's Babies depends on the kindness and generosity of its foster families to help us save lives. It is rewarding - and fun! - for the family of people and their pets willing to open their hearts and share their lives.
